The aim of the course is to introduce the principles and concepts of risk and risk management. This leads to an examination of the ways in which risks are classified and the models or frameworks that are utilized to identify, assess and treat them.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
• Recognize the key concepts relating to risk management
• Compare the main risk management standards
• Apply the concepts of enterprise risk management
• Examine the main approaches to risk identification
• Use the main approaches to the analysis and evaluation of risk
• Distinguish the main features of risk control techniques
Topics covered:
• Approaching to defining risks (Definition of risk, types of risks, risk description, risk classification systems)
• Scope of risk management (Origins of risk management, development of risk management)
• Principles and aims of risk management (Principles of risk management, importance of risk management, risk management activities)
• Risk management standards (Scope of risk management standards, risk management process, CoSo, ERM, Revised ISO 31000)
• Risk control techniques
• Risk management and internal audit
• Reporting on risk management
Modalités
The methodology of the course is based not only on the theory sessions, but in parallel in various activities such as:
• exercises;
• classroom presentations;
• teamwork;
• oral participation.
Group work may include an element of peer assessment.
