Objectifs

This course's objectives are to introduce students to negotiations within the organs of the United Nations (UN) and give them the necessary knowledge and skillset to take part in a Model United Nations (MUN) as a delegate.

Présentation

The course will give students a view of the United Nations sytem and the balance of power between its different organs and agencies, to understand what the UN can and cannot do. It will also teach students how to write a resolution and a position paper as well as how to interract with other delegates, speak in public, how to negotiate the content of a resolution and compromise.

Modalités

Modalités d'enseignement

The course will mix interractive lectures by the teacher and practical exercises about position paper and resolution writing, public speaking and negotiation. Students are expected to take an active part in their learning process through oral participation in class, readings and homework.
