Prérequis

The course is a basic course on State aid substantive and procedural rules. Basic notions of competiton law (e.g. on the concept of undertaking for competition law purposes) would be beneficial.

Objectifs

This is a course that will cover the main substantive and procedural rules on State aid. The objective of the course is for the students to learn how to apply the rules to practical cases.

Présentation

The course covers State aid rules on substance:



  • Conditions of existence of a State aid under Article 107 TFEU

  • Compatibility conditions, including the General Block Exemption Regulation

  • Main case law


Moreover, the course covers the main rules from a procedural point of viwew:



  • Different procedures under the Procedural Regulation

  • rules on recovery of unlawful and incompatible State aid

  • main case law

Modalités

Modalités d'enseignement

The evaluation method is a mix of continuos assessment (based on active participation in class, case presentations), a hypothetical case exercise, multiple choice questions and/or open book exam, oral exam.
