Staff mobility

Logo UCL monochrome

The internationalization of the teaching and administrative staff at the Université Catholique de Lille is a priority for our international development and for our commitment to our employees and students. The international mobility of staff allows them to develop their skills as well as enriching their teaching methods and our students’ courses.

Teacher and staff mobility allows for:

Professional enrichment:

Observing, learning and training differently by following different methods;

Sharing experiences and talking with others with the aim of enriching one’s professional practices;

Internationalizing our professional practices and contributing to the international openness of the institution;

Creating an international network and fostering new collaborations;

Improving language skills…

Personal enrichment:

Discovering a country and culture:

Improving understanding of the educational practices, policies, and systems around the world;

Thriving personally by leaving one’s comfort zone and cultivating a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.

Teaching new groups of students, developing pedagogical, linguistic, and cultural skills with international students, getting to know how the higher education systems of our partners work; all of this is possible for our University teachers and researchers through the Erasmus+ program.

Being a permanent teacher, a teacher-researcher, or a doctoral student in a Université Catholique de Lille institution.

Coming to teach at our university

Each year, the University institutions welcome many teachers coming from partner universities. They bring different approaches, teaching techniques, and cultures to both the students and the academic community. They participate greatly in the internationalization of our courses.

Being a part of the staff of any public or private organization in Europe (company, research institute, foundation, association, public institution…)

Teaching on one of our courses (with no hourly minimum)

Minimum duration: 1 day on site

The costs associated with this mobility will be supported by the Erasmus+ program according to the scales established by the European Commission, as long as they comply with the procedure set out by the International Relations Directorate of the University.

Contact the head of the course on which you wish to teach in order to determine the content you would cover.

Once the teaching program has been defined, if you are a teacher in a university participating in Erasmus+, the administrative procedure to obtain the Erasmus scholarship is to be conducted directly by your university.

If you come from the business, associative, or public sector, the head of the course on which you will teach will contact the International Relations officials.

Specific support for persons with disabilities

The democratization of the Erasmus+ program is one of the aims for the 2021-2027 period. Indeed, Erasmus+ aims to promote equity and inclusion. Thus, the European Commission and the participating countries support the mobility of persons with disabilities (mental, physical, sensory, or other).

The Erasmus+ program provides specific funding to cover the costs generated by international mobility for disabled participants. A specific file including medical certificates and a quote must be set up with your Erasmus+ correspondent.

International solidarity leave

The employee must have worked in the company for at least 12 months (consecutive or not). International solidarity leave allows for the participation in a mission abroad on behalf of a humanitarian association or an international organization to which France is a member.

The list of these associations is given by an interministerial decree, namely:

International organizations, including France;

The humanitarian associations governed by the Law of 1 July 1901 concerning the Association Contract or registered in the Register of Associations pursuant to the Law of 19 April 1908 applicable to the Association Contract in the departments of Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin.

The duration of the leave (during which the work contract is suspended) and the cumulative duration of several requests for international solidarity leave taken in succession cannot exceed 6 months. Since the contract is suspended, the employee will therefore not receive remuneration during the leave unless it is taken on paid leave rights.

The employee must inform their employer through a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt or a hand-delivered letter with signed receipt at least one month before departure. This letter must specify the departure date, the duration of the foreseen absence, and the name of the association for which the mission will be performed.

The employer can refuse leave if they believe that its duration will have a negative impact on the running of the company or when there are several leave requests during the same year. This refusal must be supported and notified to the employee, in writing, within 15 days of the request for leave.

After the leave, the employee will return to their previous job or a similar job, with at least equivalent remuneration. Upon return from leave, the employee will provide the employer with a certificate indicating the performance of the mission. This certificate must be issued by the relevant association.

For any mobility outside of France, it is necessary to obtain prior agreement from the employer, to get information from the Human Resources Service, and to fill in a mandate with the hierarchical manager no later than one month before the mobility, so that all administrative procedures can be performed in time: declarations, insurance…
