The UCLille is awarded the label “Hauts-de-France & United States: 250 Years of Ties”

The Université Catholique de Lille has been awarded the regional label “Hauts-de-France & United States: 250 Years of Ties” as part of the call for initiatives launched by the Hauts-de-France Region to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence in 2026.

This recognition highlights the memorial visits organised within the LILLE Programs, through which international students, including American students, will discover major remembrance sites across Hauts-de-France and Belgium, including Arras, Vimy, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Fromelles, Ypres, and Tyne Cot. These visits aim to raise awareness of the history of the World Wars, the shared memory between nations, and the importance of international cooperation in building peace.

Organized throughout 2026, these visits will contribute to the international visibility of the Hauts-de-France Region while strengthening educational, cultural, and memorial ties between France and the United States, particularly with the State of Maryland.

This label also provides greater visibility for the University’s initiatives and supports the development of connections with American partners as part of this international commemorative program.
