CLASSES

Classes will be held twice a week. Please look at the outline of classes to check the dates and time. Students are expected to read the materials before the class and to engage in discussions on the class’ topic.

ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING

Students will be graded on the basis of a reaction paper (30%) and final exam at the end of the semester (70%). Final grades will be rounded (+/- 0,5 pts) depending on the students overall participation in class.

Mid-term evaluation

Students will prepare an oral presentation, which will comprise a legal argument arguing in favour or against the topic of the discussion. Depending on the number of enrolled students, an average of 6 students will be assigned to each topic, 3 arguing for and 3 against.

Final exam

The final evaluation will consist of a legal analysis of a case. Two cases will be provided, and students will choose one of them. The exam will cover all classes of the course. Specifically, students are expected to know the readings as well as the slides and what has been discussed in class. The date of the exam will be communicated in due time. The final exam will last 3 hours, it will be take home, open book.

Attendance and participation

Attendance to the course sessions is obligatory. Students are expected to prepare the readings prior to each class and actively participate in the class discussion. Further readings might be assigned during the course. Grades will be awarded on the basis of the written exams. The final grade will also be informed by the quality of the student’s class participation.
