Goal
- Holding a simple conversation, understanding and properly reproducing distinctive sounds of the Italian language;
- Gaining a good command of 1st year Italian grammar and syntax;
- Being able to write a dictated text;
- Being able to write a short text autonomously;
- Knowing the Italian culture;
- Improving pronunciation through listening to songs.

This course develops the following professional skills:
- Understanding, analysing and interpreting one’s environment (general knowledge), including the global context;
- Designing and presenting a through-the-line communication strategy: drawing it up, presenting and defending it (being able to justify the choices made);
- Developing your personality with an emphasis on values of integrity, open-mindedness, tolerance, and respect;
- Applying “principles” to every action: diligence, autonomy, interdisciplinarity, innovation, inventiveness.
Presentation
Grammar:
Phonetics, distinction between genders and number, articles, personal pronouns, adjectives, courtesy form, simple and articulated prepositions, partitive pronoun, “il y a”, possessive, adverbs, conjugation of regular and irregular verbs, present tense, gerundive.

Vocabulary and communication elements:
Introducing yourself, greeting people, nationalities, numbers (cardinal and ordinal), age, likes and dislikes, feelings, everyday topics, describing a picture, an object or a person, asking for information, writing a text, days and months, telling time, the weather, locating objects in space, expressing uncertainty and possession, buying something in a store, asking a price, relating a past event, ordering in a restaurant, helpful sentences when travelling, family, preferences, meals.

Cultural elements:
Geography, history, gastronomy, cinema, fashion, music, typical Italian characteristics, customs, celebrations, and anything that catches students' interest.
