understand the basics of financial markets (capital markets/money markets)
understand the basics of banking (what banking is and the most recent regulation)
understand the two recent financial crisis (subprime crisis and the Eurozone crisis)
Presentation
The course is devoted into two main chapters. The first chapter is an overview of financial markets, banking and central banking (the ECB). The second chapter is devoted to the subprime financial crisis (causes, mechanism, consequences) and to the Eurozone crisis.
