Présentation

Prerequisite
Capacity for synthesizing and analysing. Command of applied researches' methodologies.
Capacity for analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data.
Goal
The aim of the dissertation or the consulting project is to develop the analysis, research, organisation and presentation skills associated to actual situations. The dissertation or the consulting project enables to attest the capability to handle in depth a complex subject, and to present clearly the results of the research.

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- express clearly a problematic,
- synthesize the theories relating to this problematic and criticize the related researches,
- choose and carry out a methodology adapted to the defined problematic,
- analyse the gathered data and present the results in the adequate form
- formulate relevant managerial recommendations.
Presentation
The dissertation or the consulting project is a study of a great scope, which implies a veritable personal research, for which the student takes the responsibility, while benefiting from the help of the dissertation mentor. The dissertation or the project is a reflection in depth work on a problem.
The research that constitutes the dissertation overtakes the particular case frame. This demand can be respected while starting from a concrete case to which we give a general dimension, or while starting from a rather large subject illustrated with practical cases. The dissertation subject enrols in one of the educational domain of IESEG: economy, finance, strategy, marketing, management audit, human resources…
The consulting project begins with a problematic specific to a firm, for which the student brings response elements and broadens the subject to other situations. The consulting project is built on the basis of strong interactions with the base firm(s), at all the levels of the research: definition of the subject, construction of the problematic and empirical validation. On that account, it presents a more important field anchorage than the dissertation.

The content of the dissertation and the consulting project varies according to the predicated problematic. From a general point of view, the dissertation must include a summary, an introduction, a firm and/or activity sector presentation, a synthesis of related theories/researches, a description of the methodology used and results, managerial recommendations, a conclusion and a bibliography.
