Prerequisite
No specific knowledge is required to follow this course because the focus is on the introduction of basic con-cepts in the area of production and inventory management systems. Having an interest in this field is more than enough. Quantitative exercises are rather easy to compute.
Goal
At the end of the course, the student should be able to
- get an in-depth understanding of internal operations, production and inventory management
- get prepared for the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), globally recog-nized as the premier certification for internal supply chain business operations since 1973
- have the proven knowledge and skills to strategically streamline these internal operations
- succeed the official APICS exam for CPIM Part 1, which is the new, streamlined version of CPIM BSCM
- get an in-depth understanding of internal operations, production and inventory management

Presentation
I. Business-wide management concepts and techniques including: supply chain fundamentals, operating environments, financial fundamentals, enterprise resources planning, lean, quality fundamentals, and theo-ry of constraints
II. Demand management covers sources of demand for goods and services, including a basic understanding of markets, voice of the customer and an overview of demand planning
III. Transformation of demand into supply includes the design of products and services, capacity manage-ment, planning, execution and control, and performance measurements
IV. Supply includes the actual or planned provision of a product, component or service and its sustainability (inventory, purchasing cycle and distribution)
