Présentation

Prerequisite
Preparatory classes :
- Thermodynamics of Steady Flow
- Thermal Transfer by Conduction
- Double and Triple Integrals, Partial Differential Equations, Differential Calculation, Units, Thermodynamic Variables
Goal
Students are to gain knowledge in the basic principles of thermal transfers, in order to be able to understand and process situations with thermal issues.
Presentation
• General description of the different modes of transfer (conduction, radiation and convection)
• Conduction: Fourier’s Law, conservation of heat, and applications
• Thermal radiation: laws and applications
• Convection: methods of calculation of the h coefficient, application to natural and forced convection.
• Heat exchangers: calculation of heat flow, design of different types of exchangers
• LMTD and NTU methods
