Goal
Students are to gain knowledge in the basic principles of thermal transfers, in order to be able to understand and process situations with thermal issues.
Presentation
• General description of the different modes of transfer (conduction, radiation and convection)
• Conduction: Fourier’s Law, conservation of heat, and applications
• Thermal radiation: laws and applications
• Convection: methods of calculation of the h coefficient, application to natural and forced convection.
• Heat exchangers: calculation of heat flow, design of different types of exchangers
• LMTD and NTU methods
