Présentation

Prerequisite
All students from ISEN CSI3 follow the course of Semiconductor Physics, enough to follow this module.
For external students, knowledge of semiconductor materials (intrinsic, doped one, concept of electric field, Poisson equation) is recommended but not essential.
Goal
This module is positioned in the field of energy and in particular on renewable energy issues. The objectives of this module are to provide an overview of the key concepts for physical recovery, conversion and storage of energy, in various forms (solar, thermal, mechanical, electrical, ..).
Presentation
The module is structured as follows :
Reminders of thermodynamic principles / applications to energy recovery (2h)
Photovoltaics (solar spectrum, principles, technology, industrial plant) (10h)
Thermoelectricity (principles, materials, technological fabrication) (4h)
Heat pumps (principles, implementation of cogeneration (2h)
Energy recovery by piezoelectricity (principles, applications) (2h)
The energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors, electronic applications) (2h)

Modalités

Forms of instruction
The training is based on lectures mixed with tutorials, and industrial conferences (photovoltaic industrial system, heat pump and cogeneration)
Lectures/Seminary
Evaluation
During the course, student have to choose and report in English about a scientific article dealing with a specific type of Energy Harvesting.
