The course aims at discussing the phenomenon of populism, and more specifically, to understand its development in Europe. During the 18-hour lecture, we will delve into this often-used but still debated concept, analysing case studies.
Ultimately, we aim at answering the following questions: what is populism? Why do citizens vote for these parties? How can they influence a country’s foreign policy, once in power? Is there a tension between populism and liberal democracies?
