– To identify the principal issues in contemporary bioethics.
– To engage critically with bioethical challenges by providing a reasoned account of bioethical discourse, including legal and societal implications.
The bioethics course establishes the foundational principles and essential tools for developing a moral judgment on ethically significant issues raised by the advancement and application of biomedical technosciences. This course enables students to identify issues specific to the ethics of life and offers a reflection on major themes ethics of life: procreation, experimentation on human beings, organ transplantation and the use of human body parts, neurosciences and personality manipulation, interventions on genetic heritage, transhumanism, bionics, and end-of-life interventions (deep sedation, euthanasia, assisted suicide, etc.), ethics of IA.
