This course is designed to familiarize students to different methods/ways of doing political research. In order for students to make the most timely and informed decision for their MA thesis, the sessions are « squeezed » at the beginning of September. All sessions will take place between Monday 8 September and Friday 12th (please check Hyperplanning for exact times and locations).
In the first three sessions, students are introduced with methods for de- and constructing relevant ideas, and how to trace them in the real world. In sessions 4-6, students learn about different ways of doing qualitative research. In sessions 7-9, students learn different ways of analysing discourse, ranging from more interpretevist approaches to more quantitative methodologies. Sessions 10-12 introduces students with survey research.
