Prerequisite
Knowledge of basic German- second language level (vocabulary, syntax, grammar)
Attention: This is a year long course, if you choose it you will also be obliged to take it during the second semester
Goal
To study the civilization of Germany: we will study current affairs, subjects that will likely help you discover “Germany’s economy” in a broad sense of the term while keeping in mind other aspects of German culture such as society, politics and geography.
Introduction to economic vocabulary, improve oral and written expression, update basic vocabulary and some grammar.
If you are interested, this course will help you prepare for the Zertifikat Deutsch exam for the Goethe Institute.

Introduction: short history of Germany (the political and economic situation of Germany today)
Part 1: Typisch deutsche Markenprodukte- Typical German products
Part 2: Bekannte deutsche Firmen- Well-known businesses
Part 3: Marketing- Publicity and Communication Strategy for brand products
Part 4: Präsentation auf der Messe- Germany: #1 in sector-based expositions in the world

Modalités

Forms of instruction
Class held during the 1st and 2nd semesters
This course will be based on participation. We will work on documents which will invite you to speak up as well as do presentations. New vocabulary will be acquired as one goes along while working with news articles, audiovisual reports and internet sites.
