OBJECTIVE

To use different methods of analysis for buildings’ energy consumption. To reflect on the challenge of heat transfer and how to reduce it. To be aware of the good practices of sustainable development buildings.

CONTENT

Thermal diagnosis. Theoretical energy needs in different types of buildings. Simulations of heat transfer in community and industrial buildings. Analysis of energy consumption. Examples of good practice. Natural Ventilation through Computational Fluid Dynamics. Visits to low energy buildings in France.

COMPOSITION OF THE CLASS

A class of maximum 25 students for a more interactive teaching
Interactive class, lecture, case studies, presentations, projects

PRE-REQUISITE    Understand and speak academic level English. Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer. Graduate Mechanical Engineering or Graduate Civil Engineering students are the general audience of the course.
CREDITS 3 ECTS credits
ASSESSMENT

Assessments will be done throughout the whole course based on group and individual works.
