ESP - French Intermediate Level


 

COURSE CONTENT

CONTACT HOURS

48 contact hours for ESP 1 and ESP 2 General.
40 contact hours for ESP 1 Science and Engineering Program.

LEVEL

Intermediate

OBJECTIVE

Strengthen and expand the linguistic knowledge through a special focus to oral expression and writing. The course will be based on cultural aspects met daily.

CONTENT

3 hours of classes 4 days a week
30 minutes to 1 hour of personal work per day

LISTENING

Listen and fill in questionnaires with multiple answers proposed or answer to open questions.

General or more in-depth understanding.

Authentic oral supports going from easy to difficult (ads, news, dialogues, songs, movies…)

SPEAKING

Research / exchance of information in groups of 2-3 students.

Play roles to prepare the students to the concrete tasks of the daily life.

Learning of priority vocabulary in the context of a linguistic immersion.

Idioms.

Colloquial expressions used by students

READING

Small texts or articles.

National or local news, society issues

WRITING

Practice of writing emails, letters to friends, stories, descriptions…

 GRAMMAR

In the framework of the speaking made in intermediate level.

Exercices to produce grammatical structures, both orally in groups of 2 and by writing

ASSESSMENT

Regular assessment + written exam awarding a certificate at the end of the program.

PRE-REQUISITE

Start of level A2 recommended (see the assessment grid of the Council of Europe)
