OBJECTIVE

To describe the basics of the European process as well as the current challenges faced by the E.U. both within its member states and in the world.

CONTENT

Introduction to the European Union. Panorama of the European Union, history and major treaties. The European institutions. Current issues of the European Union. Fieldtrips to complement the students' understanding about the European Union : a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels and a fieldtrip to Belgium to experience the European Union Common Market.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS

Lecture, presentations, debates, group work
8 sessions of 3 hours + a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels + a study tour in the Euroregion (France and Belgium)
Personal work
A class of maximum 25 students for a more interactive teaching

ASSESSMENT

A written final exam + participation in class
