To describe the basics of the European process and the diversity of European member states

CONTENT

Introduction to the European Union from a political and a judicial point of view. Panorama of the European Union, history and major treaties. The European institutions. Current issues of the European Union. Fieldtrips to complement the students' understanding about the European Union : a visit to memorial sites of World War 1 in Lille surroundings and a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS

Lecture, presentations, debates, group work
8 sessions of 3 hours + a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels + a study tour in the Euroregion (France and Belgium)
Personal work
A class of maximum 25 students for a more interactive teaching

A written final exam + participation in class
