OBJECTIVE

Give students with a high intermediate or advanced level in French the opportunity to discover the characteristics of the French society through the study of authentic materials in French.

CONTENT

This course deals with how French people see themselves as well as how they see the world. This is made through the analysis of historic and literary works, TV programs, French films, songs and newspaper articles. The course is suplemented by conferences by guest speakers on specific current issues of French society.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS

Lectures and teaching materials in French.
8 sessions of 3 hours + a conference at the European Parliament + an integrated study visit on World War 1.
Personal work.
A class of maximum 25 students for a more interactive teaching.

A written final exam + participation in class
