NA; Basic financial accouting knowledge would be helpful. hope you kept your financial accounting book. If not, check out any accounting book at the library. Read through this book and remind yourself how the financial statements look like.

Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course, the student should be able:
Ultimately, the course will provide students with the skills in interpreting and appraising financial statement information. Even if you are not planning on becoming an accountant, you will learn that financial reports are not just a “bunch of numbers” but rather that these reports contain important information about a firm’s operating, investing, and financing activities.

Contenu du cours

This course is designed to prepare you to interpret and analyze financial statements
Effectively, and introduces and examines additional topics not covered in the core course in financial accounting. The course covers current practices in financial reporting and fundamental issues relating to statement of cash flow and its relationship with net income, earnings quality, accounting information quality, and profitability and risk assessment. This is not a course about the details of GAAP, or the myriad of accounting rules and procedures that comprise GAAP. Throughout the course, you will learn financial statement analysis most effectively by performing the analysis on actual companies.
The course should be of interest not only to those responsible for preparing financial statements, but also those who will use financial statements for making decisions, including lenders, equity analysts, investment bankers, boards of directors, and others charged with monitoring or advising on corporate performance and the behavior of management.
