Pré requis

A basic understanding of the grammatical structures of the English language.
The ability to understand the principal ideas when listening to others.
An elementary understanding of written articles or spoken commentaries on a variety of topics.
The ability to communicate so that others understand the essential message conveyed.

Objectifs du cours

Use the specific technical English required in a variety of business situations such as when telephoning, working in finance and accounting or analysing graphs.
Give a formal presentation on a variety of business-related topics, either independently or as a team.
Use specific writing skills in order to write reports, letters or e-mails.
Communicate efficiently in English in a business context, demonstrating and understanding of the appropriate behaviour in different cultural situations.
Undertake a formal discussion with the ability to present an argument in a disciplined manner using logical consistency and factual accuracy.
Speak with correct pronunciation, intonation and grammatical know how.
Understand articles on current issues, summarise them and explain them to others in a concise and proficient manner.

Interpretation of graphs using correct technical vocabulary and appropriate grammatical structures
How to carry out research for writing reports
Writing reports, e-mails and letters
Visiting companies to have real life situations to work on in the different contexts of the course
Debating
The study of articles from business reviews and commentaries (notably Ted talks) on current issues
Speechmaking
