Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
Upon completion of this course, students will have a concrete understanding of the ways in which twentieth century American literature and its different genres have influenced the perceptions we have of everyday life…

Contenu du cours

Will include an overview of some of the main twentieth century authors.

1 book (available in the library) will be chosen, read, discussed, and evaluated by the whole class.

Students will be given a list of books dealing with different decades in the twentieth century. Each student will choose a book to read, and then present the book, its author and include information about its social, economic and historical context.

In addition to a traditional presentation, as a final written project, students will be encouraged to think about “their decade” in an original manner by creating murals, "you-are-there" videos, or creating a magazine modeled after Life or the New Yorker into which students display the results of their individual research.
