Pré requis

The students will read provided excerpts from the book The Leadership Challenge by James Koozes and Barry Posner, that will serve as a guide to developing a leadership strategy and a teachable point of view. Written and oral communication skills will be developed.
Students should have a working knowledge of historical leadership theories and practices.

Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course, the student should be able to :
Demonstrate practical skills to improve the quality of their leadership as a Human Resource professional.
Topics include best practices in behavioral interviewing, the employment offer, onboarding, employee competiences development and the detection of potential.
Students will apply insights into the science and practice of influence and emotional intelligence. Discussion of the book Good to Great by Jim Collins around getting the right people into the right jobe.They will formulate a communication strategy to motivate and inspire the team.
The students will also engage in a Harvard Business School case that examines practical and ethical issues of a work life balance situation.

Contenu du cours

Session one, Selection Interview Techniques that includes behavioral interviewing and detection of potential.
Session two, The employment offer and onboarding/mentoring, plus effective communication and presentation strategies.
Session three, team preperation and discussion of the Harvard Business Review case
Session four, Competencie development and career evolution.
Session five, quiz and personal strategy

Évaluation

The students will prepare a written initial leadership strategy that will include a personal credo. The work will contain their method and strategy to lead, engage, motivate their work team.
