Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Master the topics related to design, planning, and control of complex industries in manufacturing and service operations;
- Understand the operations contribution to the development and implementation of successful business strategies;
- Describe industries that exhibit a complex operations structure;
- Identify the diverse complexity dimensions/elements of a business structure/process;
- Demonstrate working knowledge of technologies supporting complex operations;
- Identify emerging organisational structures corresponding to complex operations;
- Define key business processes in complex industries and establish their performance objectives;
- Address and manage ethical issues in complex industries.

Contenu du cours

This course introduces students to the following topics:
- The different types of operations (decisions for manufacturing/service operations management);
- Complexity dimensions from diverse aspects of operations;
- Uncertainty and resource allocation in supply chains;
- Strategic alliances (e.g., virtual enterprises, supply chain integration);
- Emerging organisational structures corresponding to complex operations;
- Technology to support complex operations;
- Business ethics in complex operations.
