Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Be familiarized with characteristics and mechanisms of financial markets.
- know the main financial products (bonds, stocks, funds) and their functions.
- Acquire fundamental knowledge of major financial instruments.
- Understand the sources and causes of the recent financial crisis.
-Understand the basics of the monetary policy of the ECB (Fed)

Estimated personal workload27,00   Students will have to read two articles on the financial crisis (subprime and sovereign). Questions on these articles will be done in class. Moreover, students have to prepare the tutorials before attending the class.
Face to face
Interactive class24,00   Regarding the textbook, most of the descriptive aspects should be read by the students. Given the program, it is not possible to spend time on the easy part of the program. In class, 60% of the time will be devoted to the course and 40% to the tutorials.

Évaluation

Students must read the textbook, two articles, and prepare the tutorials before attending the class. The mid-term is a MCQ and is in general easy. The final exam consists in exercises, problems, and open questions. It is harder.
