Objectifs du cours

The purpose of doing research is to add a new knowledge to the existing body of knowledge in an area of interest. A research problem therefore should not be a tedious one. It should be carefully thought and polished before going to the field for data collection. If a research problem needs quantitative approach to address the research questions related to the problem, the researcher should be ready to equip him/herself with sufficient knowledge of quantitative research methodology pertinent to the research itself. One should be persevere in selecting the most valid instrument for the research. One should be hardworking in looking for very related models or theories that underlie the research premise and one should be critical minded in analyzing the research data. The same applies to students undertaking qualitative research. This course will equip the students with all the information they need when the time comes to chose their methodological approach in either a Master's Thesis or Consulting Project.
At the end of the module, participants will be able to:
. Fully understand the range of research methodologies available to them.
. Be able to construct appropriate questionnaires or interviews protocols.
. Understand what data analysis software tools are available.
. Be able to identify the difficulties associated with each methodological approach.
. Most importantly the students will fully understand the difference between the two approaches and what will be expected in the final memoire.
