Pré requis

This course will emphasize the active participation of students through discussion, presentations, collaborative exercises, and self-assessment workshops. The classes will be carried out in a seminar style thus students are expected to actively participate by discussing their own views. The ability to carry out self-assessment is necessary for success in this course.

Objectifs du cours

This course provides an introduction into the field of career development. First, career development will be explained from a theoretical perspective. Next, career management practices in companies will be examined. Individual career planning will then be discussed. This course provides practical and relevant knowledge for students planning to work in an HRM environment. This course will offer students the opportunity to think about and actively plan their own careers. At the end of the course, the student should be able to: - understand career development theory - understand career management from an HRM perspective - understand career development practices in companies - gain insights into their own careers and create their own career plan - develop their employability skills

Part 1- Career Development : key concepts and overview, career development theory, career management
Part 2- Corporate Career Development Practices : human resource management and career development, career development programs (CDP) in companies, emerging career development trends in HRM
Part 3- Career Assessments : career interest inventories, career anchors, aptitude tests, skills assessment, personality type, designing a career plan, career assessments and HRM
