Objectifs du cours

Use accounting analysis tools to provide information for decision making, and assist managers in planning and controlling operational activities. AOL
Ultimately, the course will provide students with the skills in analyzing and interpreting information on financial statements. Even if you are not planning on becoming an accountant, you will learn that financial reports are not just a “bunch of numbers” but rather that these reports contain important information about a firm’s operating, investing, and financing activities.

Contenu du cours

The objective of the course is for the student to learn, read, understand, and analyze financial statements. The course is intended for students with no previous exposure to financial accounting. Therefore, this course is an introduction to the basic concepts and standards underlying financial accounting systems. Several important concepts will be studied in detail. Also, it emphasizes the construction of the basic financial accounting statements -the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement- and their interpretation & inter-relationships and financial ratio analysis.
