• Understand what is supply chain
• Understand how can supply chain bring a real competitive advantage to a company, small or large, in today’s very complex business environment
• Get students interested in supply chain management and in supply chain professional careers
• Provide students with real life examples of supply chain issues and benefits
• Explain Decathlon supply chain

Course description

3 main classes:
Course 1: What is supply chain?

• Presentation of the master supply chain module
• Introduction to general concepts of supply chain
• Supply chain components
• Maturity levels

Cours 2 : Supply chain information systems

• Supply chain information systems
• Planning, tactical, and operational tools
• Case: Decathlon information systems (presented by a Decathlon IT manager)
• Supply chain glossary

Cours 3: Warehousing

• Warehouse functions, heart of logistics
• Handling material and building concepts
• What is a WMS (Warehouse management system)?
• Case: Visit of a Decathlon continental distribution center (Dourges)

6 practical workshops with students’s presentations:

Workshop 1: Decathlon supply chain

• Presentation by 2 groups of students on this workshop topic or on a supply chain of a company of their choice
• Decathlon case : Decathlon company and organization
• Decathlon logistics and supply network
Workshop 2 : Supply chain jobs and human organizations

• Presentation by 2 groups of students on this workshop topic or on a supply chain of a company of their choice
• Supply chain jobs and careers
• Possible human organizations
• Change management
• Practical cases on reengineering projects

Worshop 3 : Key performance indicators

• Presentation by 2 groups of students on this workshop topic or on a supply chain of a company of their choice
• Why do we measure performance?
• Supply chain key performance indicators
• The SCORE model
• Examples of indicators

Workshop 4 : Supply Chain Collaboration (VMI/CPFR)

• Supply Chain Quizz in class
• What is supply chain collaboration?
• Forecast management
• CPFR (collaborative planning forecasting and replenishment)
• VMI (vendor managed inventory)
• Advantages of these new working methods, for both suppliers and customers

Worshop 5 : Supply chain transformation and change management

• Presentation by 2 groups of students on this workshop topic or on a supply chain of a company of their choice
• How to launch and implement a supply chain initiative?
• What services offer a consulting company?
• Practical implementation cases of supply chain projects
• Change management issues and difficulties

Workshop 6 : RFID, new technologies, planning tools, SCEM (Management by exception)

• Presentation by 2 groups of students on this workshop topic or on a supply chain of a company of their choice
• What is RFID ?
• Costs and gains
• Difficulties to implement RFID solutions
• Other potential technologies to be used in the future (portals,…)
• Supply chain planning tools
• Why anticipate and plan ?
